How does Google rate websites?

Google rates websites on more than 200 components. For each category, we have listed the most important parts of how Google does this.

Google is constantly reviewing your website to determine where they will show your website in search results. They do this on more than 200 parts, which can be roughly divided into three  categories . We have listed the most important components for each category:

1. Content

By this we mean the structure, texts, titles and images contained in a website.

  • Page Title: The title for the page is one of the most important factors for ranking, please ensure that your best search terms are used for that page.
  • Page description: the keywords can also best appear in the description (meta_description). Do not make the description longer than 150 characters.

  • Search terms in the text: there is a lot of discussion about the best keyword density for a text, but the fact is: your search term should not be missing. Our advice: 1 x at the top, 1 x in the middle and 1 x at the bottom of the page. The top of the text is the most important. And keep it legible.

  • Often new content: new content, that's what Google loves! So try to add new content to your website regularly. Try to find regularity in this.
  • Sitemap: By giving a sitemap to Google (sitemap.xml) Google knows what pages your website has and Google will index them quickly. Give your homepage a higher importance than the rest of your pages in the sitemap.
  • Present on Google Business: create a Google business account, where you enter all your company details. This is not about the content of your own website, but is a service from Google. The more complete the information, the better.

2. Popularity

This concerns the amount of hyperlinks that point to your website.

  • Links to good websites: linking to relevant sites is a positive thing for Google. This is called link building. Don't do this more than once or twice per page. Visit google review management software

  • Reviews on other website: Google uses customer reviews on other websites (Facebook, Google Maps, etc.). So get it.
